RFID Tag Reading

In radio frequency identification, the RFID tag detects an electromagnetic pulse through its antenna, which transmits it to the microchip to process the signal. Subsequently, said impulse is returned to the transmitter with those variables programmed in the small memory of the chip. Some advantages of this identification system:

Limitations of reading by barcodes

Mainly the biggest disadvantage is possibly the individual and short distance reading of each label. Being an optical recognition technology, it is very likely to find physical difficulties related to speed, distance or reading quality.

Advantages of RFID data collection

The simultaneity and speed of the readings, up to 1,000 per second, are possibly the main advantages, since this results in an immense saving of time, costs and effort. Through a PDA device it is possible to perform inventory control in a minimum time and individually locate each item thanks to the unique identifier that carries each tag.

BAP tag

The battery-assist passive tags are, as the name implies, RFID tags equipped with a battery. This complementary energy source allows the chip's micro-circuitry to be activated to enable a variety of functionalities:

By combining a BAP tag with a simple temperature sensor, the chip will collect data every certain period of time, according to the programming that has been configured in it.
